MY PHILOSOPHY

Values, connection, results

In my work with youth through 517 Hope, we believe that teaching key values and morals at a young age will provide the ability to navigate life’s challenging situations with ease and adaptability - values like empathy, perseverance, compassion. As adults, we know these values are critical for working on and leading effective teams, driving projects forward, and visioning bold ideas.

But often, these values don’t make it to the workplace - or leaders and team members don’t have effective channels to communicate them. The result is an American workforce that is dissatisfied and frustrated at work, one study finding that in the U.S. specifically, 50% of workers reported feeling stressed at their jobs on a daily basis, 41% as being worried, 22% as sad, and 18% angry.

I believe that to combat this epidemic, it comes down to one thing: connection. My philosophy is rooted in giving teams the tools they need to break down barriers - whether it be age, culture, role, life experiences, etc. - so they can communicate effectively. I believe that this empowers unseen leaders to rise, ultimately leading to teams that are more passionate, more nimble, and more prepared to thrive amidst our rapidly-evolving world.
